Many Casting Directors are now accepting digital video submissions for roles they're looking to fill, and "Self-Taping" has become a convenient way for actors to audition without having to physically read in person. This process is beneficial to all parties involved for various reasons. For example, the actor doesn't have to worry about nailing it on the first try, and the Casting Director can review the audition afterwards without having to rely solely on notes and memory.
Although it is technically possible to film yourself with a webcam, smart phone, or consumer video camera, that style of footage lacks a certain cinematic quality which can often make a bad first impression. Amateur lighting and poor sound quality can also be very distracting, and that's the last thing an actor wants when a Casting Director is trying to focus on performance. Our studio is equipped with professional lighting setups for all genres, HD cameras with full-range focal length lenses, boom mics and lavaliers for prime audio recording, along with a variety of colored backdrops (white, black, gray, green, blue, etc) that can be easily swapped out to help accent the subtext of the script. This type of production value can really help showcase the potential of what an actor can do on screen.
A reader is provided as a courtesy to our clients, but we also have a teleprompter to assist with host auditions and longer blocks of dialogue (additional $20 charge). Once the best performance has been decided upon, we will quickly edit and export a final version including title cards with any relevant contact information. We can either transfer a free digital copy to your hard drive, or we can upload it to our password-protected site that can be shared for 30 days (additional $10 charge).
Quite a few “bad apples” have proven to be flaky in the past, which is why we require full payment upon scheduling an appointment. Once your payment is confirmed, you will see a green check-mark next to your name. You will then be given a chance to register for an account, which will allow you to receive our email coupons and conveniently save time with scheduling future appointments. You can cancel, reschedule, or edit your appointment, but please note that refunds are only allowed if you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment, and it may take up to 48 hours to process the refund. Self-Taping credit will be accrued if changes are made with less than 24 hours notice.
If you are interested in more information about this service, please submit a request via the Self Taping contact form below, and a CRAWLEYWOOD representative will respond within 24 hours.
